You get a program like this one. Weruché Uzoka earned her MSc in journalism at Quinnipiac University and her MA in human rights at Columbia University. Today, as the founder and executive director of Weruché Inspires International, she has returned to both campuses with a simple conviction: talented students deserve more doors to walk through.
She saw a gap in the opportunities available to college students, interns, and fellows: hands-on work with real audiences, real stakes, and real credits. So instead of waiting for someone else to close it, she created the Weruché Fellows Program at Columbia and began partnering with established university programs to open more doors for the next generation.
That is the story behind the Weruché Fellows Program and WIIN’s internship collaborations with university programs. Interns from Quinnipiac and beyond. Fellows at Columbia. One alum giving back to the places that shaped her, so the students coming up behind her have a head start.
Starting in the spring, WIIN looks forward to collaborating with students from a range of departments, and most especially with the communications department through Quinnipiac University in Los Angeles (QU in LA), an established program run by Director Andres Rosende Novo. Together, we aim to help interns gain real-world experience through WIIN’s projects, and we are looking to bring on more interns from Columbia, Quinnipiac, and other schools in subsequent sessions.
Weruché Inspires International (WIIN) is an accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit, established in 2015, centering women and girls while uplifting youth, boys, and men, through youth and arts programming, community services, and UN advocacy.
Pitch, report, and publish features, human-interest stories, and cultural commentary for WERUCHÉ® Magazine under zero-AI, high-integrity editorial standards.

Reels · Behind the ScenesExpanding: we are expanding WIIN’s internship opportunities to welcome engineering students from Columbia and Quinnipiac. Interns will help prototype Princess Naku® educational products, from interactive kits to apps, alongside our design and production teams.

Winter casting and rehearsals for Festac Baby™, set crew work for The Weruché Show, the spring magazine relaunch, and LA media day announcements.
Featured Intern-Led Shows
Ama: The Quad. A field series named for the Igbo word for the village square. Interns produce and host, profiling “micro-thinkers” and human-interest stories across campus and LA.
The Weruché Rewind. A studio and post-production series cutting archival footage from The Weruché Show into reaction panels and high-engagement clips for TikTok and Reels.
For Columbia master’s students ready to do professional-grade work across theatre, journalism, film, engineering, advocacy, and broadcast. Our first cohort is onboarded and building the Weruché ecosystem now. Fellows are graduate students; interns are undergraduates.
Plan, cast, and stage original African performance art, including FESTAC Baby, My Husband is a Warlock, Odinihu, and Sisterhood. Remote for Fall 2026, with in-person rehearsals in Los Angeles from January 2027.
Report and write for WERUCHÉ® Magazine under the AP Stylebook, with strict AI-verification protocols and a focus on human dignity over clickbait.
Develop human rights documentaries and adapt the 57-book Princess Naku® children’s series into an animated film and series bible.
Prototype interactive hardware, software, and robotics kits for children under the Princess Naku® educational line. For Columbia Engineering, CS, and Teachers College students.
Support policy research for the UN Water Conference 2026 in Abu Dhabi and the setup of WIIN’s Immigration & Asylee Support Clinic.
Work on The WERUCHÉ® Show: guest relations, segment pre-production, media operations, and distribution strategy.
All fellowships are 100% remote, except theatre rehearsals in Los Angeles.
